The program is based on the involvement of community volunteers consisting of lectures and students of University Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), employees and patients undergoing treatment in KKTM along with an expert from the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) to share and disseminate knowledge on edible garden and their innovation on therapeutic benefits. The main emphasis of the project was given to the development of an attractive and well-planned edible garden design as well as to promote horticulture therapy benefits with the selection of plant species through short-term crop rotation between one to six months. The beginning of cultivation means the beginning of civilization. Putrajaya is a plan driver city based on two under laying concepts, the city in the garden and the intelligent city. Garden is a device to able to experience nature very close, and gives an opportunity to feel in different ways. “A Tale of Serendipity” resolves a futuristic design which led to instance of a distinctive garden exhibition as well as has natural links with the city and the nature. It is a tale about the deep interconnectedness that exists between all living beings. It is about respect, empathy, compassion, dignity, integrity, honesty, cultural significant and collaboration. The design strategy is to promote Putrajaya a Model City, so that various intentions are expressed by aligning the simple elements horizontally and vertically. The base of landscaping will be the overlay of white crusher run and a line of underlying charcoal between layers of green turfing. The four silver seagull shapes give the sense of depth, sensibility and freedom. Between the spaces, vertically framed structure with silver clouds and swarovski crystal are located to reflect harmony with nature and aiming for a bright future. 14 vertical poles (symbol of 14 states in Malaysia) represent the colour of rainbow to give the sense of happiness and joyful for the successfully city while plants selection offer visual screening and harmoniously links the rhythm of both elements and design concept. A Tale of Serendipity will keep on creating new grounds for new landscape, new culture and new living of Putrajaya as a model city.
